Renaissance architecture was developed during the period of the European Renaissance, which began in the 14th century and remained until the 16th century. This new style that emerged was distant from medieval models and Gothic architecture.
The Renaissance style emphasizes the symmetry, proportion, geometry and regularity of the parts, as demonstrated in the architecture of classical antiquity and, in particular, in ancient Roman architecture, of which many examples have remained. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae replaced the more complex proportional systems and irregular profiles of medieval buildings. Many important monuments in the history of art were erected during this period of artistic and cultural effervescence, especially churches, cathedrals, palaces and monasteries. Filippo Brunelleschi, an Italian architect and sculptor, was the first to start an architectural project in this period: the Dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, located in Florence, Italy.
The idea was to bring together the origins of the professional and his surname and a movement as important as the Renaissance, bringing an outstanding element of the architectural aspect in this movement. The semicircular arches present in the buildings represent this concept well. The surname Barini comes from Barone and Baroncello, families originating from Florence, Italy.
